To the Editor:

At the most recent Knox Town Board meeting, I was asked by Supervisor [Michael] Hammond to solicit interest in having a town community garden.

To the Editor:

Do you want to learn boat or bicycle safety?  How about taking a defensive driving or Red Cross babysitting course?

To the Editor:

Although Freehold is beyond the usual range of the Altamont Enterprise coverage area, I have subscribed for twenty-some years, for a number of reasons, but mostly because I respect the quality Jim, Melissa, and staff have contributed to my understanding of the nearby Hilltown, and beyond, communities.

To the Editor:

It seems that there are some things that need to be cleared up as my previous letter to the editor has left some folks addled.

To the Editor:

The Knox Quilt Show, which will be held in the Knox Town Hall, will highlight quilts made over the years by the Knox Reformed Church Quilters and we are continuing to track down those quilts.

To the Editor

Five Rivers Environmental Center was one of the first local treasures I discovered after moving to Bethlehem six years ago, and it quickly became a family favorite.

To the Editor:

A few weeks ago, on March 19, Judge Lawrence E. Walsh passed away in Oklahoma City.  He was 102 years old.

To the Editor:

This is an open letter to our community.

While it was incredibly generous of The Altamont Enterprise, and Marcello [Iaia] in particular, to spend so much time investigating the state of small business in the Hilltowns, several of us thought a response might be in order.

To the Editor:

How many people do you know that are aware of a shooting range in John Boyd Thacher State Park? Located on Beaver Dam Road, just west of Pinnacle Road, it has never been clearly marked with a sign that the public might know of its existence.

To the Editor:

Due to significant, unforeseen corporate changes, our Curves in Guilderland has had to close its doors.

To the Editor:

Given the cost of dismantling and moving the LeVie/Osterhout barn, and in light of the fact that the barn sits entirely on one lot in the subdivision, has any thought been given to simply buying the lot from the developer and leaving the barn in place?

To the Editor:

A public-comment meeting on the Westerlo hydrofracking report scheduled for February was cancelled hours before its start time because of heating problems. It was rescheduled for March 27 but four of the five members of the town board were no-shows.

At its April 1 meeting, the Altamont Board of Trustees approved the 2014-15 village budget.  The budget does not increase village taxes, following a pattern of the last several years, so property tax rate is well within the tax cap enacted by state government.
