 YS Catalytic Recycling is moving to the 2-acre property at 70 Railroad Ave., a narrow strip of Guilderland sandwiched between the city of Albany and the town of Colonie.

Aiden Chrysler, who plays on the Guilderland varsity football team, was given the Youth Hero Award by the American Legion Auxiliary at Friday Night’s game. Last November, he saved his mother’s life, when she was choking and could not breathe; he performed the Heimlich maneuver.

GUILDERLAND — As part of  the Albany County Traffic Safety Awareness Show this weekend at Crossgates Mall, car seats will be checked for free

The car seat check will run Saturday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to  2 p.m. in the overflow parking lot.

On Monday, Sept. 20, the Guilderland Field hockey team faced off against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on the field turf at Afrim’s Sports Park in Latham. The Dutch couldn’t break the solid defense of the Spartans all game long and fell 2-to-0.

On Saturday, Sept. 18, Guilderland girls tennis battled Saratoga in a Suburban Council matchup at the University at Albany tennis courts. The Dutch’s main courts are under construction due to the capital project at the school. The Dutch fell 6-to-3.

Guilderland football played the home opener of the 2021 season on Sept. 17. It was also pop warner night. The “players of tomorrow” joined the varsity team and cheerleaders on the field at halftime.

Four residents — two in favor, one against, and one who favored a wait-and-see approach — spoke about the issue during the Sept. 21 Guilderland Town Board meeting.

“We’ve only got one planet,” says Edna Litten. “We’ve got to take care of it.”
Litten, who grew up in Queens and lives now in Altamont, remembers going to a teach-in for the first Earth Day in 1970.
