The Guilderland Town Board on Tuesday approved an amendment to Local Law 7 of 2017, which established the planned unit development for Pine Bush Senior Living at 24 New Karner Road.

ALBANY COUNTY — With a 5.18-percent increase in population since the last time residents were counted, a decade ago, no other municipality in Albany County saw a bigger jump in its population rate than New Scotland in the census count released this week.

It's opening day for the Altamont Fair on Tuesday August 17 after COVID canceled last years fair and people came in droves through the turnstiles. 

On Tuesday August 17, girls from all ages competed in the Miss Altamont Fair pageant, which missed last year due to COVID, returned to crowned six new queens for this years fair.

On Friday, August 13, the students of Farnsworth Middle School held their release of the Monarch butterflies that the student grew since the start of the butterfly garden.

Nicaya-Isabella Rios sings Thursday night at Tawasentha Park as part of the Broadway Concert in the Park show, featuring Broadway performers and local talent. Rios, a Guilderland graduate, won the best actress award this year in the fifth Proctors High School Musical Theater Awards.

GUILDERLAND — Four Guilderland High School runners are All-American athletes after placing sixth in the girls’ 1600 split medley relay at the 2021 Outdoor Nationals.

John Franklin Green

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — John Franklin Green, who treasured his Guilderland youth and wrote several books capturing it, died on Thursday, July 29, 2021, in Arizona where he had lived since the 1980s. He was 68.

The project’s site plan received a positive recommendation from Guilderland’s planning board at its Aug. 11 meeting.
