Free car-seat checks on Saturday

GUILDERLAND — As part of  the Albany County Traffic Safety Awareness Show this weekend at Crossgates Mall, car seats will be checked for free

The car seat check will run Saturday, Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to  2 p.m. in the overflow parking lot.

“At our June event, our team checked 50 car seats and only two were installed correctly,” said Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy in a release announcing the show. “That’s less than 4 percent of all seats inspected. On top of that, five seats had to be replaced because of recalls, damages, or expirations. This is a pattern we see year after year and it should be a wakeup call to every parent out there with precious cargo.”

The 37th Annual Traffic Safety Awareness Show will be held on the lower level of the Crossgates Mall, on both Saturday and Sunday, during regular mall hours. Participants will be educated on the dangers that exist on the road and best practices for traffic and child passenger safety.
