Sitting in my college dorm, 250 miles from home, I am astonished (then again, not really) to see our little town of Knox is (yet again) raising the already high taxes, a whopping 3.14 percent, on its citizens.

Eighth-seeded Berne-Knox-Westerlo took on top-seeded Stillwater on Monday evening at Stillwater High School for the Class C sectional quarterfinal. 

To the Editor:

Often in life we are faced with difficult situations. Sadly many take matters into their own hands and end their lives.

We must remember the joys of life far outweigh the sorrows. The sadness may seem relentless; however, suicide is a hurtful and rash act and it deeply wounds those who know and love us.

The BKW girls' soccer team turned an 0-5 start into a 6-7-2 season as it hopes to win a sectional game on Friday. 

Again, the Berne-Knox soccer team pitched a shutout, but it took two overtimes to score a goal to advance in the Class C playoffs.

I have had the privilege of serving on the Berne Town Board since January.  We have worked well as a team, each bringing our own distinctive set of skills and points of view to the table.

Judging by the number of political signs, it seems that the position of the highway superintendent in Berne is one of the most hotly contested. But what does this position really entail?

I want to thank [Enterprise Hilltown reporter] Marcello Iaia for writing the nice article about the thrift shop that has opened at the Helderberg Evangelical Lutheran Church in Berne.  We were pleasantly surprised how many new people we had visit the shop this past Saturday because of the article.
