After 10 years with Andy Wright at the helm, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo varsity basketball coaching post has been filled by an unknown face.

To the Editor:

This is an open letter to the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School board and Interim Superintendent Lonnie Palmer.

I would like to begin with my disappointment with the decision not to reinstate Coach Andy Wright to the varsity boys’ basketball position despite overwhelming public support for him.

To the Editor:

We just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who helped to make this year’s fund-raiser for the J. Wyatt Spencer Memorial Scholarship Fund such a success.

We had a big turnout of golfers and lots of you came for the dinner and drawing at Orchard Creek. Thank you.

It was a playoff soccer game to remember in Berne last Saturday as two rivals fought to make the next round.

KNOX — The Knox Nursery School is in full swing. Teachers Kim Conklin, Season Poole, and myself were ready when 27 children (14 three-year-olds and 13 four-year-olds) began their school year on Sept. 9 — one that is guaranteed to be an adventure!

Interim Superintendent Lonnie Palmer said school officials were confused on what they were supposed to do after dramatic public comments and were mistaken not to acknowledge them.

To the Editor:

My political career is very short. I was elected to the Knox Town Board two years ago and had been the freshman until Amy Pokorny came on board last year. As I have been learning the intricacies of town government, I have gained a great appreciation for what it takes to run our town.

KNOX — A rough-cut screening of a new documentary about the Anti-Rent Rebellion will be shown at the Octagon Barn in Knox on Wednesday evening, Oct. 30, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The event is free and families with school-aged children are being encouraged to attend.

To the Editor:

Last week, the interim superintendent made the decision that that long-time boys’ varsity basketball coach, Andy Wright, would not be coaching this year. That decision was made without any discussion with Athletic Director Tom Galvin.
