Clothesline Art Show on the Library Lawn on Tuesday, July 28, from 1 to 5 p.m. Kids can drop off their artwork ahead of time, we’ll hang it on clotheslines, and people can come see (staying at least 6 ft. apart and wearing masks, of course!) The Summer Reading Program starts soon, with ideas to make this summer magical! We'll offer online reading signup and logs, with a paper option. Virtual activities, take-and-make kits, a clothesline art show, scavenger hunts, special evening Storytimes, and more. And a fun new program with other libraries throughout the region: Fairies and Gomes — Imagine Their Homes. Use your creativity and natural materials from your yard or woods to create fairy and gnome homes, and see if you can find signs of the fairies! Stay tuned for details!

The Schoharie Central School budget vote for the 2020-21 fiscal year will be held on June 9 via absentee ballot  due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. A proposition to increase the Schoharie Free Library Association’s annual budget by $10,000 per year will be included on the school budget ballot. For most taxpayers, this tax increase is about the price of a medium size ice cream cone and will allow us to continue to provide programming for all residents of the school district.

Voters will receive a postage prepaid absentee ballot that will include the Schoharie Free Library’s proposition. The absentee ballot must be returned by 5 p.m. on June 9, 2020 in order to be counted.

Tech help

Online tech help is available on Wednesdays, May 13, 20, and 27, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Do you have questions about using a program, taking out e-books, creating a document or spreadsheet, or anything else related to basic computer use? Check in with us and we’ll do our best to help! E-mail for an appointment, or sign up on the online form.

Story time

Join Miss Heather for online story time on Fridays at 10 a.m. for interactive stories, songs, and activities. The theme for May 15 is Mysteries and Secret Agents. The theme for May 22 is Bedtime and PJs.  Have paper, crayons, and scissors ready. Remember to sign up ahead so we can send you the link to join!

Writing Club

Every Monday at 6 p.m., join the Online Writing Club, a great chance to share and discuss your work with other writers!

Zoom

How to Use Zoom Online will be taught on Wednesday, May 20, at 10 a.m. Get more savvy with video, microphone, screen sharing, hosting a meeting, adjusting privacy or security settings, and more!

— “UFO” Unfinished Object Club, Thursday,  May 21, at 3 p.m. It’s always easier to work on a project when you’ve got company! Maybe we'll even finish something;

— Knitcetera Club meets Tuesday, May 26, at 10:30 a.m. Share knitting, crocheting, quilting, and embroidery projects, catch up with friends, enjoy some connection; and

— Books & Chocolate Book Chat: Wednesday, May 20, at 7 p.m. Join us in cyberspace to talk about books you’ve enjoyed and share ideas for future reading! You’ll have to provide your own chocolate for now — maybe we can share recipes, too!

— The book drop is closed; please hang onto your books till we reopen. No late fees will be charged as long as books are returned within two weeks of the library’s re-opening;
