ALTAMONT — On Saturday, Dave Muska of Ondatra Adventures, led 10 or so intrepid participants, including children and elders, on a treasure hunt of sorts through the newly opened Bozen Kill Preserve.

GUILDERLAND — The town is hosting an open house to present a neighborhood plan for Westmere, along Western Avenue.

Anyone that lives in, commutes through, or works in the area is encouraged to drop in at the Westmere firehouse at 1741 Western Ave. between 7 and 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 11.

KNOX — For the second time in 20 years, the Winterfest held in Knox will be a joint effort by the youth councils of Berne and Knox.  The annual event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Knox Town Park. 

GUILDERLAND — The chamber of commerce here is holding its annual Winter Restaurant Week from Jan. 24 to 30. 

A set price of $20.16 covers three courses of the restaurant's choosing.

NEW SCOTLAND — Nestled in the shadow of the Helderberg escarpment, the town of New Scotland is fortunate to have a wealth of historically and architecturally significant structures and sites that in some respects parallel the history of America from the early 18th to mid-20th centuries. 

St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Avenue in Altamont has an informal Sunday worship service at 8:30 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m. 

There is a special week of prayer for Christian Unity services scheduled for

Jan. 24, at St. John's Lutheran Church.

GUILDERLAND — Eighteen Guilderland students have been selected to participate in the Suburban Scholastic Council Music Festival, to be held at Scotia-Glenville High School on Saturday, Jan. 16.

St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Avenue in Altamont has an informal Sunday worship service at 8:30 a.m. and a traditional service at 11 a.m. Jan. 10 will be observed as the Festival of the Baptism of Our Lord.

Sunday school starts at 9:45 a.m.

The Thacher Nature Center is looking for artists interested in participating in the  12th Annual Nature Art Exhibit, on display  at the Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center  from Saturday, March 5, through Friday, March 25.   The opening reception will be Saturday, March 5, from 1 to 4 p.m.
