ALTAMONT — Esther M. (née Hubbard) Goodfellow, a teacher and active community member, died on Thursday, March 26, after a brief illness. She was 92.

Goodfellow taught at the Guilderland Central School District for more than 30 years before she retired in 1982.

KNOX — Whanda Shedina knew hard work not just as a means of getting by, but for its pleasure and beauty.

VOORHEESVILLE — Frank W. Warner was a loving husband and father, and a leader among industrial photographers. He died Thursday, March 12, 2015, at the age of 94.

“He was my loving father for 60 years,” said his son, Brian.

BERNE — Mark Crawford was a sweet man who stayed in Berne to be near his grandchildren.

He lived across the street from his son, Everett Crawford, and was like a parent to grandchildren and would help them get on and off the school bus.

WRIGHT — Mildred E. Tegiacchi was a homemaker and a mother who supported her children and believed deeply in their abilities.

She died on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Ellis Hospital after a brief illness. She was 78.

WESTERLO — Evelyn V. Bader, a devoted wife and mother, died at home on Saturday, March 7, 2015. She was 88.

ALBANY — Gerald Miller was a bricklayer with a keen eye and a deep heart.

Mr. Miller died at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida, surrounded by his family on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015. He was 75.

HUNTERSLAND — A homemaker who sewed brightly-colored quilts and kept her cookie jar full for her grandchildren, Daisy May Schanz was a caring and social woman.

Her pies, which she gave to people on happy or sad occasions, were made from scratch with lard, and she knitted mittens and quilts by hand.

KNOX — Thomas R. Filkins, a gentle and friendly man who was a tank mechanic during World War II and a postal carrier for most of his career, relished the role of public servant.
