Ready to talk history: Altamont Trustee John Scally and his dog, Ceili, stand outside their beautifully restored Victorian home, built by Altamont’s first mayor, Hiram Griggs. The Altamont Free Library and Altamont Reformed Church were other places where visitors and villagers alike could learn about Altamont’s history on the village’s inaugural Founders Day.

History in the halls: Artifacts, including a crimping embosser in the shape of a lion’s head, are displayed in the corridor of Altamont’s village hall on Saturday morning.
