BETHLEHEM — The Cedar Hill Schoolhouse Museum, home of the Bethlehem Historical Association, is now open Sunday afternoons from 2 to 4 p.m. 

The Museum Education Act should be funded in the state’s budget as it would support the important learning that comes from museum visits and would allow students from poor districts the same opportunities for field trips that students in wealthier districts enjoy.

 The Village of Altamont Archives and Museum hosted their first Founders Day Celebration on Saturday, October 12.

ALTAMONT — On Saturday, Oct. 12, The Village of Altamont Archives and Museum will host a Founders Day celebration, incorporating Altamont’s Museum in the Streets walking exhibit.

Museums nationwide have signed on to provide free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families this summer. The 2019 program runs from Saturday, May 18, Armed Forces Day, to Monday, Sept. 2, Labor Day.

WESTERLO — The committee working to increase broadband access in rural Westerlo wants to draft a new agreement with Mid-Hudson cable. The committee is asking residents who want service to make their needs known.

For about $38,600, covered by grants and contributions, Altamont will soon have a series of signs at 26 sites, meant to inform residents and attract visitors.

If federal grant money doesn't come through for a rail-trail center and museum in Voorheesville, the village wants to proceed with the project locally, hoping to attract tourists to the start of the route that is to one day reach Albany.

Village officials hope to get a piece of a $50 million federal grant to build a rail museum in Voorheesville at the head of a rail trail to Albany.

A mission of the Clarksville Historical Society is to save historic buildings; it now has two — a schoolhouse and a general store.
