Come to the Helderberg Senior Services lunch program on Tuesday, July 6, for a special presentation by the Healthy Homes Program and the opportunity to receive free safety and cleaning products, as well as information on health-safety education, resources, and referrals.

Free safety and cleaning products may include:

— Home safety: smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers;

— Child safety: cabinet locks, shock stoppers, door knob covers, corner protectors;

— Asthma control: allergen barrier mattress and pillow covers;

— Cleaning: wipes, baking soda, vinegar;

— Safety: flashlight, nightlight; and

— Mice control.

Lunch

Seniors aged 60 and older are welcome to enjoy a nutritious lunch offered by the Helderberg Senior Services lunch program. Meals are offered Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays at the Town of Berne Community and Senior Services Center at 1360 Helderberg Trail in Berne.

Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Doors open at 11 a.m. Masks are required to enter the building. A $3 donation is suggested.

You must call Karen Stark at 518-937-5963 by 10 a.m. the day before you plan on attending. She needs 24-hour advance notice to ensure enough meals are provided for everyone.

Menus provide choices each day:

— Friday, July 2: potato-crunch fish or baked chicken, mashed potatoes, peas, and peaches, or cottage cheese with hard-boiled egg, three-bean salad, and grape juice;

— Monday, July 5: Closed for the July 4 holiday;

— Tuesday, July 6: Macaroni and cheese or baked fish, zucchini, and tomatoes, apple juice and peaches; and

— Friday, July 9: Meatloaf with mushroom gravy or baked fish, whipped sweet potatoes, broccoli, and applesauce, or chicken-salad sandwich with tomato/cucumber salad.
