Hilltowns Senior News for Wednesday, February 15, 2023

The Hilltown Senior Citizens met for their monthly meeting on Feb. 11. The tables were filled with seniors chatting away and the committee for this month used the Valentine’s Day theme with the three “H”s: Hearts, hearts, and hearts!

We received valentines from our own Berne-Knox-Westerlo third-graders and I have to tell you: We so enjoyed the notes they sent — so cute and creative!

We were each given a bottle of water and I explained the benefits of drinking water. Our own Kathy Walls rang a bell and every time she did, we all drank!

Our reports were read and then our trip leader announced upcoming day trips, and a couple of others that would be over-nighters are being worked on. We are so ready to travel!

An announcement for this month shows The Hillbelly Restaurant is open in Westerlo, serving breakfast and lunch in the old Diederich/Ketchum Building. Be sure to stop by and check it out. I think our book club should visit this establishment.

We had our own Mary Alice Molgard stop by and she will be assisting people in the Hilltowns if they have special needs as she is working with Lifepath that runs meals for those in the Hilltowns.

I reminded members to wear their name tags and, if you need one, please ask to be put on the list.

We accepted new nominations for officers for the upcoming year.

We were told that the next Patriot Flight is on April 21 and could we all send notes, pictures, and thank-yous to: Patriot Flight Inc., Post Office Box 13776, Albany, NY. So let’s all participate in this!

We had a prize drawing and we played a valentine game with chopsticks, trying to pick up those darn small heart candides — lol. Fun times!

Till next month — wear green! We’ll have a special guest appearance by none other than Mary Todd Lincoln; be sure to be at this meeting.
