Westerlo Library Notes for Thursday, March 23, 2023

— Photo from Amy Powarzynski

Abstract artwork by AnnMarie Plass is on display in the gallery space at the Westerlo Library through April.

On April 17 at 7 p.m., Master Gardener Judith Fetterly will present a Garden Design Program. This presentation would be perfect for the home gardener creating a new garden or one thinking about redesigning an existing garden.

It covers fundamental principles of garden design such as choosing plants based on sun and shade patterns in your garden, your garden size and soil type, and color and seasonality of plants. The presentation also covers key concepts for planting once your design is established and tips and tools for maintaining your garden design as it matures.

With this information at hand, it is possible for every gardener to have a well-designed garden for the long haul.

April programs

The library is having programs every Wednesday in April. All programs are at 1 p.m. On the 5th we have an in-person Medicare program. The 12th is a virtual presentation on Advance Care Planning, including wills and health-care proxies. April 19 is a virtual presentation about lowering prescription costs, and the 26th is a virtual program about identity theft and how to avoid it. Give us a call at 518-797-3415 to get more information.
