Westerlo Library Notes for Friday, February 10, 2017

The Board of Library Trustees will meet on Monday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. at the library. This is an open public meeting.

Memoir writing

The Memoir Writing Group will meet on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. This group provides its members a safe place to learn together with people that are accepting and supportive. The group is about creating, not criticism. It is about the practice of remembering and writing. It is not about publishing, polishing, or picking out the problems.

Led by Lila Hollister Smith, this group is open to all who are interested in self-expression through the art of writing. The group meets once a month on the second Saturday of each month and new members are welcomed.

Book discussion

The library book discussion group will meet next Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. at the library.  Join us as we explore British novelist Marcia Willett. If you’re looking for adventure, a good book can take you there. New members are welcome.

After school

Join Miss Lee on Monday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for homework help, games, crafts, puzzles, music, and a lot more. Programs will also include storytelling, hands-on demonstrations, and visits from special guests. Lee is also available on Thursdays from 3 to 8 p.m. for homework help.

Story time

From 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday mornings Miss Lee presents stories, songs, and movement activities designed for infants to children up to 5 years old. In addition to developing pre-reading skills, singing, moving to music, and playing instruments all help foster a sense of rhythm and timing that are essential elements in developing the part of a child’s brain that shapes math skills.

Storytimes are also a great opportunity to meet other parents of small children in Westerlo.

Technology Walk-In Wednesdays

Do you have a new Kindle or Nook, but don’t know how to download books? Need to brush up on your computer skills – or obtain basic skills?  See Amy on Wednesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for free, personalized, one-on-one instruction.
