Voorheesville Library Notes for Tuesday, December 6, 2022

The Voorheesville Public Library’s Middle School Book Club will discuss “Fins” on Jan. 4. Randy Wayne White’s novel tells of three kids in Florida who help a marine biologist protect sharks from poachers.

Children ages 1 to 5 years, with a caregiver, are invited to register for a fun and interactive music class designed especially for little ones. Join us at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10, as we welcome Music Together, an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program.

Music Together’s core belief is that all children can be musical, learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in a social setting, provided that their early environment supports such learning.

Trustees meet

The monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees will be held in the library, at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12. The public is always welcome to attend.

Preschool Story Time

Join us at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, to hear stories about some of the holidays that are celebrated in the month of December. Children ages 2 to 5 w/caregiver are invited to enjoy an interactive, theme-based story time with an emphasis on early literacy that will include an art activity that can be completed at the library or at home. No registration needed.

Coding with robots

You can command robots, but only if you know their language. Children in grades 4 and 5 are invited to register to learn coding with the library’s Ozobots. Join us at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 to build robots using Lego Spike bricks and app.

Ugly Sweater Party

Come on out and celebrate in your ugliest holiday sweater at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14. Snowmen, sparkles, sequins, whatever! Wear your holiday sweater to the party and enjoy some holiday snacks, listen to some holiday music, and make some holiday crafts. Spend some time with your neighbors, who will also be dressed to impress. Please register, so we know how many holiday cookies we’ll need.

Blood drive

The Voorheesville Public Library, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will be holding a blood drive, Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are recommended. You can go to www.redcrossblood.org, or call 1-800-redcross to schedule your appointment. One donation can save up to three lives!
