Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, September 8, 2021

This is the last week that you can register for the Great Give Back. This year, we would like to ask the community to pick up a No-Sew Throw Kit the week of Sept. 12 to make with your family or on your own and return it to the library the week of Oct. 10.

The finished blankets will be donated to Project Linus, as well as to Sgt. Henry Johnson Veterans House. Please register online to receive your No-Sew Throw kit.

Walk with the

village historian

See the streets of Voorheesville as never before with village historian Dennis Sullivan, on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. This two-hour walking tour will begin and end at Voorheesville Elementary School.

Dennis is the author of the book “Voorheesville, New York: A Sketch of the Beginnings of Nineteenth-Century Railroad Town.” Registration is required, and limited to 30 people. Attendees must follow all current COVID safety guidelines. Please park at the elementary school parking area. The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 25.

Book sale

The Friends of the Library’s annual Fall Book Sale will be held Sept. 24 to 26. Friday, Sept. 24, from noon to 7 p.m. is FOL Members-Only Day. Memberships are available for as little as $10 at the door.

The doors open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. There will be a bake sale as well as raffle tickets available for purchase for various baskets.The raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday. You do not need to be present to win. Sunday, Sept. 26, is Special Deals Day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

Craft & Chat

Join us for an in-person program at 1:30 p.m. and/or 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, where we will be making a fun craft, supplied by the library. Enjoy some time with fellow crafters as we gather for casual conversation and crafting fun. Registration is limited for both program times, and attendees must follow all COVID related guidelines.

Join Maria Nataralli, managing partner at Inspire Confidence Group, for a special Zoom presentation on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Learn how to align your goals with your personal, professional, and financial values. Historic Voorheesville

Celebrate Voorheesville’s fascinating past with village history guide Dennis Ulion. This two-hour walking tour will begin at St. Matthew’s Church at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24, and will take us to locations throughout the village.

The tour will end back at St. Matthew’s around 11:30 a.m. Registration is required, and limited to 10 people. Attendees must follow all current COVID safety guidelines. The rain date is Monday, Sept. 27, at the same time and location. If you are driving to meet us, please park across the street from St. Matthew’s rectory house, at 32 Mountainview St.
