Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, September 1, 2021

In-person, indoor preschool story times are back! It’s back-to-school time, so let’s share stories about the excitement of school.

Children ages 2 to 5 with a caregiver are invited to join us at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 21. Registration is required and attendees must follow all COVID-related guidelines. Take-and-make kits will be available after the program for fun at-home activities. 

Craft & Chat

Join us for an in-person program at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22, where we will be making a fun craft, supplied by the library. Enjoy some time with fellow crafters as we gather for casual conversation and crafting fun. Registration is very limited and attendees must follow all COVID related guidelines. 

The Great Give Back

Partnering with Project Linus, as well as Sgt. Henry Johnson Veterans House, the Voorheesville Library has joined the Great Give Back program, to provide a day of opportunities for our patrons to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences.

On Sunday, Sept. 12, from 1 to 4 p.m., we will be providing a No Sew Throw kit for patrons to pick up. These can be made as a family project, or individually. The completed blankets need to be returned to the library by October 10th, and will be donated to local organizations in need. Please register to receive your No Sew Throw kit.

Take a walk with

the village historian

See the streets of Voorheesville as never before with Village Historian Dennis Sullivan, on Saturday, Sept. 18, at 10 a.m. This two-hour walking tour will begin at Voorheesville Elementary School.

Dennis is the author of the book “Voorheesville, New York: A Sketch of the Beginnings of Nineteenth-Century Railroad Town.” Registration is required, and limited to 30 people. Attendees must follow all current COVID safety guidelines. Please park at the Elementary School parking area. The rain date is Saturday, Sept. 25.

Annual Book Sale

The Friends of the Library annual Fall Book Sale will be held Sept. 24 to 26. Friday, Sept. 24, noon to 7 p.m. is FOL members only day. Memberships are available for as little as $10 at the door. The doors open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25.

There will be a bake sale as well as raffle tickets available for purchase for various baskets.The raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday. You do not need to be present to win. Sunday, Sept. 26 is special deals day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WDYWFY is a goal achievement process which stands for What Do You Want For Yourself? Join Maria Nataralli, managing partner at Inspire Confidence Group, for a special Zoom presentation on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Learn how to align your goals with your personal, professional, and financial values. Holiday hours

In observation of the Labor Day holiday, the Library will be closed Saturday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 6. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
