Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, August 24, 2022

Join us for a live concert at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 15. The Evidence, a duo of musicians with an eclectic mix of jazz, blues, pop, and rock tunes, will perform.

Rob Aronstein and Mike Derrico have been working together since the mid-1980s, and cover tunes from James Taylor, The Grateful Dead, and British Invasion groups, as well as many others. This concert is funded by the Music Performance Trust Fund, arranged by the Albany Musicians Association, Local 14, AFM. It’s also co-sponsored by the Jim Clark Community Performance Fund.

The next history walk with Dennis Ulion is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 9. This is a lovely time of the year to walk the quiet streets of Voorheesville, and learn its history. Please register and plan to wear comfortable clothes and shoes for this 2 hour tour.

The Great Give Back

Every year, the library does a community wide donation drive. This year, we will be supporting “Sleep in Heavenly Peace”. SHP is a volunteer organization that builds beds for kids (ages 3-17) who are sleeping on the floor.

From Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, the library will be collecting new (in original packaging) twin sheet sets, comforters, and pillows. Children’s or teen-themes are appropriate, as are solid colors. In addition, we’ll also be collecting funds to build beds. For more ways to be involved, visit www.shpbeds.org. Thank you in advance, for your generosity.

 Bead Creative

For all those patrons asking when the beading program would be back, it is here! Please register to join us at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, for this fun program. We have a large supply of beads and tools, as well as many examples of projects you can try. This program is appropriate for ages 15 and up.
