Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, June 9, 2021

This summer, the Voorheesville Public Library will be offering different types of programming, as we strive to reach our patrons in varied ways with a wide array of opportunities. Story times will be held outdoors, or on Zoom if it rains.

Some programs will be held in the park, some at other outdoor community sites. Some programs will offer take-and-make kits paired with instructional videos. To receive more information about a particular program, or to register, check out our online calendar at www.voorpl.org.

Encore! Books

The Friends of the Library used-book store is back, and busier than ever. Tentative hours are Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. Please check the FOL Facebook page for updates and current COVID protocols. Donations are limited to two boxes or bags per visit, and will be vetted at the drop-off area.

Juneteenth is Freedom Day!

Juneteenth is short for June 19th, which commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is also known as Freedom Day. Come join Mrs. Brown and Miss Lisa at Hotaling Park at 2p.m., Wednesday, June 23, as they share some Juneteenth stories, activities, and songs that honor and celebrate Freedom Day!  Intended for children ages 5 to 8, with a caregiver. Registration is required and limited, and all attendees must follow current covid guidelines. Please bring a blanket and/or chairs for your family. Rain date is Thursday, June 24.

Craft and Chat

Join fellow crafters at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, for some casual conversation and companionship. We meet virtually each month to discuss our current projects, talk about color schemes, explore different types of crafting media, or the price of tea in China. No experience needed, and all artistic/crafting interests will be welcomed and encouraged.
