Voorheesville Library Notes for Friday, June 8, 2018

Gentle yoga is a calming, stress-relieving yoga class that stretches and strengthens the body gradually. Emphasis is on building awareness of the breath and the body. Asanas are practiced at a slower pace with attention to alignment and detail.

Gentle yoga is recommended for all levels looking for a soothing, relaxing, and restorative experience. Please bring a mat and water bottle to the Voorheesville Public Library for a 1 p.m. class on Saturday, June 9. Please register.

Second Sunday Films

Join us at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, for a 119-minute film, rated R, that the Internet Movie Database describes this way: “When a group of gay and lesbian activists begin to raise money to help families affected by the British miners’ strike in 1984, they initially face resistance but when they give their donations directly to a small village in Wales, a surprising alliance forms.”

Beading Workshop

This month you can learn how to make a simple ring with wire, buttons, or beads if you'd like. Class will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, but you may arrive at any time during the workshop that fits your schedule.

This workshop ais for adults and teens ages 14 and up. Please register, and there will be a small materials fee depending on the project you choose.

Teen Volunteer Orientation

Students entering grade seven and up can earn community service credit for volunteering at the Library. Fill out a form prior to this mandatory orientation from 4 to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 15.

Learn Google Docs

Google Drive is a great way to store your documents and share them with others. It's also a great substitute for Microsoft Word, and it's free with a Gmail account.

On Thursday, June 14, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., you can get started with the basics of creating, sharing, and exporting documents, and learn about the ins and outs of cloud storage from instructor Sarah McFadden. Please register.

Getting Started with Computers

This class is intended for new and infrequent computer users. Please register for either the 11 a.m. or the 6 p.m. class on Tuesday, June 19. We will go over the organizational structure of the computer and how to find what you’re looking for.

Then we’ll practice creating, moving, and relocating files. Bring your own devices, or use one of the library’s laptops.
