Voorheesville Library Notes for Thursday, March 14, 2019

Nominating petitions are available for the position of trustee for the Voorheesville Public Library Board to fill the vacancy caused by the expiration of the term of J. Lance Moore.

The election will be held on Tuesday, May 21, and the candidate elected will serve a five-year term, beginning July 1, 2019. Petitions may be obtained in the library and must be notarized and returned by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 15, with a minimum of 25 signatures.

Candidates must be a qualified voter of the Voorheesville Central School District.

Please register and join us from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, for an exciting program designed to help pre-retirees (ages 55+) make more informed retirement decisions. This program is for information purposes only and is being offered as a public service by John N. Kalil Jr., financial coach and president of Retirement Solutions.

Irish folk music duo

Tim O’Shea with Padraig Timoney will present a variety of Irish songs and tunes on guitar, vocal, fiddle, and Irish drum. Join in the fun, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20.

Crazy Craft Morning!

Children in kindergarten through grade 5 are invited to register for this make and take craft program. On Friday, March 22, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., the library craft closet, full of leftover craft projects, will be opened and shared with everyone. There will be a variety of art activities available, so enjoy!

Harry Potter movie experience

You may have seen “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” before, but you’ve never interacted with it like this! At 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22, fans in grade 4 through adult will receive a goodie-bag, complete with a ticket to the Hogwarts Express and everything else you need to become a classmate of Harry’s. Feel free to dress up for the occasion. Please register.

Snow delays

If the Voorheesville Schools are delayed by two hours due to weather, all morning youth programs will be cancelled. If school is cancelled, all youth programs for the day are cancelled. Call to check on adult afternoon or evening programs.
