Voorheesville Library Notes for Wednesday, January 26, 2022

Come celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 10:30 a.m., when Miss Lisa and Mrs. Brown will share their favorite books, songs, and felt-board stories. This interactive, theme-based, multi-age story time will include an art activity that can be completed at the library or at home. Children ages 2 to 7 with a caregiver are invited to register online for this in-person program.  

Operation Donate

The library will be accepting donations of personal care items, beginning Feb. 1, and running through the end of the month. All donations will benefit the Sgt. Henry Johnson Veterans House in Albany. A donation box can be found on the display table.

Bead Creative

There are a few spots left for this in-person program at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 8. Teens and adults can register online for this creative and fun group. We have all the tools and a large supply of beads for whatever project you want to try. The hardest part is choosing which beads to use!

Teen Maker Space

Students in grade 6 and older are encouraged to come to the library after school at 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11. You are welcome to use the sewing machine, craft supplies, or littleBits, and other STEAM equipment. Even if you just want to unwind, there is no better place than the library. Please register.

February story times

Children ages 2-5, with a caregiver, will enjoy an interactive, theme-based storytime at 10 a.m. Tuesday mornings at the library. All storytimes have an emphasis on early literacy that will include an art activity that can be completed at the library or at home.

Some of the themes for February are Happy Hats, Polar Bears & Penguins, and Friendship Fun. Registration is limited. Check our online calendar for specific dates, or call the library for more information.

Snowshoeing

for adults

Join us at the Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 12, for a snowshoe nature walk through a variety of habitats. Snowshoes will be provided, and the walk will be an easy to moderate exercise. Register online or call the library to reserve your spot.

Learning Circles

Join us at 7 p.m.,Thursday, Feb. 17 for a virtual session of dialogue and active listening as we explore antiracist ideas and practices through books, articles, video, and podcasts. Watch “The Danger of a Single Story” by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (link is available on our event calendar) and come ready to have brave conversations and grow your understanding. Please register online in advance to receive the link. 
 

Curbside pickup is available during all open library hours. 

Masks are required of all visitors over the age of two, regardless of vaccination status.

If the Voorheesville School District delays school by two hours, or closes for the day due to inclement weather, all library morning programs will be cancelled. For all other programming, please call ahead to confirm the library will be open.
