Regional Library Notes for Friday, May 18, 2018

For the “Welcome Spring in Petals, Threads & Leaves” Flower & Quilt Show, from May 18 to 19, the Schoharie Valley Garden Club and the Schoharie Valley Piecemakers will decorate the library with gorgeous spring-themed quilts, pieced accessories, and flower arrangements.

All are invited to stroll through the library and enjoy the displays. It will be a great venue for prom pictures!

On May 18, at 3:30 p.m., you can decorate a can with fabric scraps, and plant a flower or herb.

On May 19, there will be a Spring Tea from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy tea and delicious home-baked treats amidst the beautiful flowers and quilts!  Refreshments will be provided by the library, and guests are also welcome to bring something if they wish.    

Writing Club

On Monday, May 21, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., writers of all ages are welcome to bring fiction, non-fiction, poetry, or any other type of writing to share, discuss, and critique. The Writing Club meets on the first and third Monday of each month.

Handiwork

The Knit, Crochet, and Needlework Club will meet on Tuesday, May 22, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.

Bring a project, start something new, or learn to knit or crochet with this friendly group. Knitting needles, crochet hooks, and yarn are available at the library. The club meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. People of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Story time

Vanessa Repicky leads story time on Fridays at 10 a.m. Join us for stories, crafts, games, music, and more! Our theme on May 18 will center on butterflies; on May 25, we’ll focus on frogs.

Kids of all ages are welcome; children must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult.

Antarctic adventures

On Saturday, June 2, at 10:30 a.m., Lt. Col. David Panzera will present a South Pole medallion to the library, and talk about his experiences in Antarctica.

Taking a break

Minecraft Club will be on break for May and June, and will resume in July.

The Schoharie Library will be closed on Monday, May 28. in honor of Memorial Day.
