Middleburgh Library Notes for Friday, August 15, 2014

 On Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 1 p.m., the Middleburgh Library invites men and women to come learn the game of Mahjong. No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun.  No registration is necessary. 

Book discussion

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. the book group will discuss Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver. Books are available for check out at the circulation desk. No registration is required.

Kundalini Yoga

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 5 p.m., join us for Kundalini Yoga. This program involves repetitive movements with the breath, building strength, toning the nerves, and clearing the adrenal glands.  Wear comfortable clothing, and bring two blankets or a mat and blanket. A $5 donation is requested. Use the back entrance when entering the building. No registration is required.

Spark a Reaction

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, at 7 p.m., the library will have a After Hours Mad Scientist Scavenger Hunt. The library will be closed, and you'll have the run of the place. Conduct experiments and find the clues to win the prize. This program is for kids going into grades six and up.   Registration is required.

Knitting Circle

On Aug. 21, at 7 p.m., the friendly ladies knit and crochet, embroider and quilt, and more. You can learn a new skill here or share your own special talents with others, or just craft in the company of friends. Drop in anytime. No registration is required.  

Filing for Social Security

On Saturday, Aug. 23, at 10:30 a.m., the library will offer Filing for Social Security: Flexibility and Choices for Your Retirement Income. Michael Canavan, a financial advisor with Waddell & Reed, Inc., invites you to attend this educational presentation about Social Security filing options includes ample opportunity for questions. There is no charge for this event, and you are welcome to bring guests. Registration is required.

Concert

On Monday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. join us at the library for Hannah & Liz. The Atlantic is once more bridged with the pairing of Norfolk-born singer, guitarist, and dulcimer player Hannah Sanders, and Boston, New England-based Liz Simmons, who between them find common ground in their symbiotic love of English music and American old time music.  Tickets are available at the door. A $10 donation is suggested.  Please use back entrance.
