Guilderland Library Notes for Wednesday, June 29, 2022

“Oceans of Possibilities” is the all-ages summer reading theme at libraries nationwide, including the Guilderland Public Library. Themed programs and prizes are featured, and teen volunteer opportunities are available at GPL, too.

Summer reading is for all ages! Discover a full slate of summer fun as we dive into “Oceans of Possibilities!”

Find out how you can earn prizes by logging your reading in Beanstack at: https://guilderlandlibrary.org/adultsrp for adults, and https://guilderlandlibrary.org/srp for kids and teens.

Keep an eye on our Events calendar online, as registration opens two weeks prior to the program.

For kids, Tuesdays are take-home kit days; Wednesdays are in-person activity days; and Thursdays are Storytime days in our lovely Literary Garden out back (weather-permitting). Register for all programs on the Events tab of guilderlandlibrary.org.

The week of July 5 to 9 is “Explore the Seven Seas” week, featuring:

— Tuesday Activity Kits: register for an ocean kit for pre-K-grade 1, or a sea-glass art kit for kids in grades 6 to 12, then pick up starting Tuesday, July 5;

— Wednesday Program: Cold Water Quest with the Georgia Aquarium for kids in kindergarten through third grade, Wednesday, July 6, at 2 p.m. Meet us at the library for a virtual field trip to learn about Arctic and Antarctic Ocean ecosystems, followed by activities about cold water animals we’ll complete together; and

— Thursday storytime: Thursday, July 7, at 10:30 a.m. for infants through age 5 and their caregivers. Gather ’round for a rollicking good time, all about ocean animals! We'll read books, sing songs, and enjoy a fun time together.
