Andrew Krivaks stunning tribute to the beauty of nature’s dominion, “The Bear,” is the next selection for Guilderland Public Library’s Green Reads book discussion group. Registration is open on the Events tab at guilderlandlibrary.org for the virtual discussion on Thursday, June 9, at 6 p.m.

We are pleased to report that voters approved our proposed 2022-23 library budget by 66 percent. This $4.1 million budget represents a slight increase of $77,365 and meets the tax cap law. We greatly appreciate this endorsement of the intrinsic value of the Guilderland Public Library as an essential community resource and careful steward of public resources.

Interim trustee Elish Melchiade was elected to the board of trustees for a five-year term. Three write-in candidates also secured seats on the board: Ted Gup (five-year term); Jo Ann Mulligan (one-year term); and Corie Dugas (one-year term).

“The people of Guilderland have spoken,” stated Library Director Tim Wiles. “We are gratified that the budget passed, and we look forward to incorporating our new trustees onto the library board. We are grateful to all candidates who put their names forward with the hope of serving the library and the community. Thanks to all who voted!”

Local history

The Local History Room at Guilderland Public Library is revamped and open for research. This collection contains materials related to the history of Guilderland, as well as other communities throughout the region. We also have books assisting with genealogical research. These resources (identified by call numbers LH REF) do not circulate, but can be searched through the Library’s online catalog.

We’re also seeking Guilderland High School Tawasenthan yearbooks from the following years:  1942, 1951, 1952, 1955, 2004, and 2014. Thank you for considering donating a yearbook to help us complete our collection for everyone to access.

Current Local History Room hours are: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday, 1 to 5 p.m.; and by appointment.  Inquiries may be directed to: .
