The Guilderland Public Library is currently seeking candidates to fill three anticipated vacancies on our board of trustees. Information packets may be obtained at our Circulation Desk.

Call 1.800.REDCROSS to schedule your appointment to donate blood or platelets here at the library Tuesday, March 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  By donating, you’ll be entered to win one of five trips to the Season 8 World Premier of “Game of Thrones” (age 18 and up).

Pickling 101

Unlike cooking, pickling preserves all the vitamins and antioxidants found in raw vegetables and keeps them fresh for weeks, making it a great way to cut down on food waste. Ever wanted to try your hand at pickling?

Plan to be here Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. You’ll make and take a jar of pickled Kirby cucumbers and learn a quick and easy technique for pickling vegetables at home. The yield is long-lasting and delicious!  Please pre-register online, by phone or in person.

Better sleep strategies

Sleep is becoming a precious commodity in our driven society.  At least 35 percent of Americans routinely don’t get the recommended seven hours of sleep each night.

Explore ways to encourage revitalizing rest at “Get a Great Night’s Sleep: A Capital District Physicians’ Health Plan Program” on Wednesday, March 13  at 6 p.m. Pre-registration online, by phone or in person is appreciated.

Magnolia Table

Our popular Cookbook Club gathers every month to sample dishes from a selection of cookbooks chosen by our staff. This month, we're featuring HGTV star Joanna Gaines’s “Magnolia Table.”

Look through this cookbook in advance at the information desk and choose your recipes while you register in person for this event. Then bring samples of your culinary masterpiece for everyone to taste on Wednesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. One lucky participant will go home with a copy of this featured cookbook!

Climate change

Join us Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. as we explore the important topic of climate change. Concern steadily grows, yet this issue has failed to gain significant traction in recent elections. Where do we go from here?

Presenter Bill Saxonis from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy will offer a hard look at the body of evidence and current status regarding global initiatives.

Mother’s Day Marketplace

Mark your calendar for our Mother’s Day Marketplace, Saturday, May 11, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., whether you plan to sell your wares or browse (or both!) Vendors may apply to sell their products and services until Friday, April 26.
