Good grooming: Aztec is brushed by children during his visit to the Berne Public Library.

“And thank you for building this library!” These words were heard from a youngster at the Berne Public Library last week. Can you imagine?

There was no prompting from a parent. No “I’ll give you $5 if you say this awesome thing about the library.” Just a spontaneous string of words blurted from the mind of a child. True story, boys and girls.

Those few words dial up a welcome boost of encouragement to continue scheduling programs; provide stacks of books — old and new — movies, and magazines; have cake pans that can be borrowed; provide passes to museums and an Empire State Park Pass; and create an environment to freely learn and explore. Thank you.
