Properly dispose of our symbol of peace and liberty

To the Editor:
Altamont’s American Legion Helderberg Post 977 is holding a flag-burning ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 7, to properly dispose of our symbol of peace and liberty, our American flag.

The ceremony, sponsored by Boy Scout Troop 264 and the American Legion members, will take place at 1 p.m. on Sunday at 988 Altamont Blvd. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.

If you want to drop off flags prior to the ceremony, leave them in the red, white, and blue mailbox at the rear entrance of the post.
