Is Coach Kenyon being punished again out of political correctness?

To the Editor:

Having read the articles in The Enterprise and the letters to the editor regarding the school board’s decision not to name the football field in Coach Kenyon's honor, I feel it is unfortunate that, for something that is as important as this, the school board clearly fumbled

I played for a number of fine football coaches coming up through the program at Guilderland High School; they all prepared us to one day participate at the next level, both on the field and off. Coach Kenyon always prepared us for game day, praised us when we did well, and made sure we knew the correct way to do things when we didn't perform well.

In the short time I played for him, he provided me with the opportunity to be part of a team and all the good things that go along with it.

The school board’s decision to punt late into the process, makes the board and the superintendent look bad.

Your article clearly states the school district punished Coach Kenyon over 40 years ago. Is he being punished again out of political correctness? Coach Kenyon's contributions far outweigh anything that may have happened years ago.

The school board can still honor the legacy of Coach Kenyon and the other fine coaches that made Guilderland football what it is; let’s see if they can figure out how to do so.
