Join us for a nighttime stroll and roll extravaganza!

To the Editor:
The Voorheesville Running and Cycling Club is excited to announce the upcoming Light Up the Rail Trail event. On Oct. 20 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., come wearing your brightest, most reflective, and light-up gear, and join in a nighttime stroll and roll extravaganza!

Decorate yourself and your walking stick, bike, scooter, stroller, or skateboard with battery-operated lights or glow-in-the-dark accessories. Be a part of a colorful parade and participate in a “best of” contest supported by the Voorheesville Public Library.

The goal of this colorful event is to promote pedestrian and cycling safety, especially at night. Free safety lights and vests will be handed out. There will be glow-in-the-dark crafts, yard games, and sweet treats for purchase.

Volunteers will be on hand to conduct helmet and bike safety checks. The Voorheesville PTA will be hosting a unique glow-themed STEAM [science, technology, engineering, art, math] project.

The Light Up the Rail Trail is a family-friendly event open to all ages; however, please keep your four-legged family members at home. The event will be held along Grove Street and a parallel section of rail trail in Voorheesville. Rain date: Oct. 21 at the same time. More information may be found at vrcclub.org
