Hear the historic songs America voted by

To the Editor:

On Wednesday May 1, at 7 p.m. at the Clarksville Community Church, the Clarksville Historical Society is hosting one of our favorite music groups, The Lost Radio Rounders — Tom Lindsay, Michael Eck and Paul Jossman with “Songs America Voted By.”

Before television, before radio, political parties tried to sing their candidates into office using parodies of popular songs to praise their man, and trash his opponent. “Songs America Voted By, 1840-1940” proves that political feuds could always get ugly, and that there is nothing new under the sun.

Lost Radio Rounders keep the legacy of American folk music alive with their very entertaining programs that cover many aspects of our country’s rich musical history. We are happy to welcome them once again with another of their themed programs.

Their presentations are well researched, entertaining, and informative, with history about the songs, the sources, and the acoustic instruments played.

All of our programs are open to the public; we invite you to join us for an enjoyable evening.  Refreshments are served following the program. The church is located at 1997 Delaware Turnpike in Clarksville. For information call 768-2870.
