Ambulance crews: They’re there when we need them

To the Editor:
I want to express my appreciation for the care and attention I received from the local ambulance squads (Altamont and Guilderland) after a fall in my home on May 6.

I guess none of us think it will happen to us, but a moment’s inattention can result in a traumatic situation.

The personnel were gentle, firm, and above all, really knew what they were doing.

Though I’d ended up in a location from which it was difficult to extricate me, they accomplished it all with practiced efficiency, one young woman holding my leg in place and another member administering pain medication, keeping me focused.

Several helped transfer me to a stretcher and all the while reassured me what a “trouper” I was being.

I sincerely hope an accident of this type never befalls me again, but it is a comforting thought to know that they’re there when we need them.

Kudos to those who offer these services! I am on the mend at home and expect to fully recover, thanks to the ministration of our local squads.
