Would you please consider sharing what you have with others?

To the Editor:
“There is nothing more important than ensuring that our neighbors have enough to eat.”

This thought was shared in a note written by a generous donor during the Helderberg Family and Community Organization’s 2021 Spring Food Drive. The HFCO is once again proud to team up with Rock Road Chapel, Hugs for the Hilltowns, the Hilltowns Community Resource Center, and the Switzkill Valley Volunteers to help feed our neighbors and to provide an Easter meal for those who could use a little help.

We are all facing the challenges that much higher prices are having on our budgets. These challenges are especially hard on seniors and families with limited incomes. Would you please consider sharing what you have with others?

Our 2022 Spring Food Drive will be held from March 16 through April 2. Nonperishable food items may be dropped off during regular business hours at:

— Altamont Country Values (Agway);

— Helderberg True Value (East Berne);

— Fox Creek Market (Berne); and

— Westerlo Public Library (Westerlo).

Food and monetary donations will also be accepted at the Maple Festival Pancake Breakfast on March 20.  This breakfast is sponsored by Girl Scout Troop 1056 (from 9 a.m. to noon) at the Berne firehouse.

Donations will also be accepted from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on April 2 at the Knox and Thompson’s Lake Reformed Church lobby and at the Westerlo Fire Department Woodman’s Hall.

Monetary donations may be sent to HFCO, Post Office Box 115, Knox, NY, 12107.  Please note “Food Drive” in the memo line of your check. All donations will be used, in their entirety, to help feed our neighbors.

The event flier with a list of suggested items for donations can be found at https://www.helderbergfco.com/events.

We thank you for your consideration and your kindness.
