On Jan. 5, Congressman Paul Tonko announced that the Federal Communications Commission awarded more than $600,000 to Mid-Hudson Data Corp., which will use the money to expand coverage all over the state, including Westerlo. 

In the rural Hilltowns, an area described as “unserved and underserved,” in terms of internet, service providers are looking to change this.

At the Nov. 6 town board meeting, Knox authorized an agreement for 4G Long Term Evolution wireless communication service on its nearby tower used by Verizon and AT&T.
