Teacher David Lawrence emphasized the need to be a good person in a world that judges people based on tests, evaluations, and applications.

VOORHEESVILLE — Julia Suozzo, the class valedictorian, shared wisdom from her experiences at Voorheesville in the speech she gave to her classmates and their friends and families at the June 27 commencement ceremony.

VOORHEESVILLE — Salutatorian Christian Keenan stood alone at the lectern as he gave his speech on June 27. But, behind him sat the rest of the members of the Clayton A. Bouton High School class of 2014, and in front of him were all their friends and families.

A program for second-grade students at Voorheesville Elementary School has helped create a new home for monarch butterflies in the area, taking part in a nation-wide study about hazards they face.

NEW SCOTLAND — New Scotland native Jesse Sommer, now a captain in the United States Army, says the military is at the forefront of a very important social issue — acknowledging victims of rape and sexual assault and helping them along the road to recovery.

VOORHEESVILLE — Shortly after 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, a small crowd heard the news that every proposition up for vote had passed.

The group, mostly made up of school board members, clapped and nodded as each proposal was read along with the voting numbers.

Programs at the Beacon of Hope Center show students from area schools the experiences and results of impairing their senses.

VOORHEESVILLE — The 2014-15 Voorheesville School District budget was approved by the board of education at a meeting on Monday, April 21. The entire board voted in favor of the budget, which is set at $22,713,608.

With a stacked line-up, and with Class B's top seed in hand, the Voorheesville basketball team began its playoff run.

The Voorheesville high school stage featured a fund-raiser for the New Scotland Food Pantry on Jan. 31. A total of $1,770 was raised for the pantry.
