ALBANY COUNTY — More than $372 million in assistance is available to help older adults and low- and middle-income New Yorkers heat their homes this winter. Local departments of social services began accepting applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program on Tuesday, November 13.

More than $325 million in funding is available to help elderly and low- and moderate-income New Yorkers heat their homes this winter. Applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program, known as HEAP, were accepted beginning Nov. 14.

Robert Motschmann wasn't born a self-sufficient Hilltowner; the Long Island native became one. He uses trees from his 84 acres of woods to heat his home.
