Voorheesville Community and School Foundation welcomes all ideas for the 2019 Little Big Idea. 

These local students are among the more than 40 Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical Education students who earned medals at the regional SkillsUSA competition Wednesday, March 20:

First place

— Robert Dorrough, Schoharie, Precision Heavy Equipment Operator;

Michelle Stafford and Austin Wolfgang made their respective Guilderland martial-arts schools proud at the AAU USA national taekwondo tournament in Florida this month.

GUILDERLAND — All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2017 Knights of Columbus Jason Brown Memorial Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, with a makeup date of Jan. 14.

An 18-year-old high school student won an award at a research conference for his study of cancer cells. 

GUILDERLAND — A team of 11 Guilderland Martial Arts students will compete in the 2016 USA Taekwondo National Championships in Richmond, Virginia from July 3 to 10.

The 8-year-old said he would go to San Diego for Major League Baseball’s Pitch, Hit and Run national competition — and he is.

The 15-year-old from Voorheesville is one of approximately 275 entrants to the “Oh, Say Can You Sing the National Anthem at the Great New York State Fair?” online competition.

Meghan Cahill's platform for the competition — empowering women through self-defense — was sparked by a scary, late-night encounter at college.

The Empire State Winter Games lasted from Feb. 6 to 9 and featured athletes from across the state in Olympic events in a region that has twice hosted the international games.
