On Tuesday, Feb. 15, it was the Class B schools' turn to see who will represent Section 2 at the state competition. Voorheesville was one of them. Voorheesville finished 11th with a total of 5158 in the six games.

This past weekend, starting on Jan.27 thru Jan.30, Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo indoor track teams took to the track in an attempt to bring home Section 2 titles.

The Voorheesville girls basketball team hosted a Colonial Council matchup against Catholic Central at home on Jan. 18. It was a tale of two halves for the Birds. The Crusaders’ defense made the Birds make costly turnovers in the 52-43 loss.

The Storm hockey faced off against the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/Ballston Spa hockey team at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility on Jan. 15 . Storm hockey is made up of students from Guilderland, Mohonasen, Scotia Glenville, Schalmont, and Voorheesville.

On Friday, Jan. 7, the Voorheesville Blackbirds basketball team hosted Mohonasen in a Colonial Council Matchup at Clayton A. Bouton High School. The Birds’ defense didn’t give the Warriors much in the first half but that changed in the second. Voorheesville held on with a 46-to-41 win.

The Guilderville boys swim team faced off Saratoga at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs. It was a back and forth match but the Guilderville team held on to a 90-to-86 win on Jan. 4.

On Jan. 2, the Voorheesville Blackbirds indoor track team, coming off quarantine, showed their talents at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy in the Tri County Indoor Track League 5D meet. The girls team finished ninth with 14.50 points while the boys finished 12th with eight points.

On Thursday, Dec. 16, the Voorheesville Blackbirds bowling team hosted Catholic Central at Town n’ Country lanes in Guilderland. The pins weren’t nice to the Birds as they fell to the Crusaders 29 to 3 (2692 to 2198 in total pins).

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Guilderland-Mohonasen-Scotia/Glenville-Schalmont-Voorheesville Storm took on Niskayuna-Amsterdam-Schenectady-Albany Mohawks at Union College for a Stick it to Cancer event. From the opening face off the Storm led till the final buzzer and won 4 to 0.

On Saturday, Dec. 11, the Voorheesville Girls traveled to Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk to face the Indians in the schools’ Hall of Fame game. Birds hung tough in the first half but the Indians’ defense stiffened and the Birds fell 50 to 37.
