Albany Pine Bush Preserve

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission will be offering programs every day at the Discovery Center for the week of April 6 to 10.

Smokey Bear came out to greet kids on Monday morning at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center in Albany.

A recent National Natural Landmark designation shows the Albany Pine bush Preserve is rare for inland pinebarrens because of its wind-formed dunes.

Lupine Fest was held last Saturday at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center. The festival celebrates the wildflower blue lupine and its importance to the endangered Karner blue butterfly. This year’s theme was “Dune” It All — Recreation in the Pine Bush.

MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship) is a continent-wide coordinated bird banding effort that monitors breeding-season, landbird populations and helps inform conservation and management efforts.

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission is catching birds in mist nets so they can be banded, released, and tracked.
