Improving a library, brick by brick

To the Editor:

Anyone who has driven by the Westerlo Library recently will certainly have noticed some big changes.  For the past several years, the library board, director, and staff have worked hard to preserve this cultural landmark and make it more energy efficient with a rebuilt front porch, a new roof, new windows, and a beautiful exterior paint job.

These improvements have been funded by grants from the New York State Education Department along with matching funds from the library budget.

And we’re not finished yet!

Our next plan is create an outdoor programming and reading area.  We invite you to help with this project by purchasing a commemorative brick to be displayed in the walkway and landscaped area to be built in 2015 in front of the library.

Your brick purchase will help not only the library, but will also enhance our community by creating a clean, safe, inviting gathering space downtown.  Bricks can be engraved with your name or you can honor your friends and family, memorialize a loved one, or promote your business or organization.

For more information, you can pick up a brochure at the library, or visit www.polarengraving.com/WesterloLibrary.  Thank you for buying a brick to help the library build an enhanced quality of life for all of the citizens of Westerlo.
