Voorheesville to host community meeting to define qualities for new superintendent

VOORHEESVILLE — On Tuesday, Oct. 14, community members can give the school board their input on what they would like to see from a new superintendent.

After six years at the helm of the district, Teresa Thayer Snyder will be retiring next July.

The community meeting will allow for people to offer input about the district, as well as what they want from a new superintendent.

In the past, the school board has established committees made of community members, district staff, and board members, to take part in the first round of interviews once the board narrows the applicant pool. This process will take place again for the current superintendent search.

“Our hope is to have someone named by the April or May board meeting,” said school board President Timothy Blow.

The meeting will be run by Charles Dedrick, the district superintendent for the Capital Region Board of Cooperative Educational Services, which is handling the search.

For those who cannot attend the meeting, an online survey will be posted on the district website on Oct. 10 and will stay posted for at least a week, Blow said.
