Unveiled: A village memorial  to Christine Marshall, trustee from 2007 to 2016, is dedicated on June 30 in the triangular green space formed by the intersection of Maple Avenue and Bozenkill Road. Marshall died in April. Her spouse, Deb Hext, uncovered the large white boulder with a memorial plaque affixed as more than 30 friends, neighbors, and admirers looked on. The boulder had been retrieved by village workers from among those swept downstream along the Bozenkill by Tropical Storm Irene.

"A botanical demonstration" is how Mayor James Gaughan, second from left, next to Deb Hecht, described two large beds of labeled grasses and flowers planted previously at what is now the site of the Marshall memorial. Master Gardener Keith Lee, the mayor's partner, oversaw the project. At one point of the triangle stands a tall larch tree planted by a local Cub Scout pack in 2007. Gaughan urged the attendees at the June 30 dedication ceremony to stop and water the flowers that surround  the memorial boulder when they pass by. Local geology, botany, and history are all on display now where Maple and Bozenkill meet.
