On Friday and Saturday, Guilderland and Berne-Knox-Westerlo state qualifiers battle to win a state title in their respective events at Cicerco-North Syracuse High School in Cicero.

Getting some distance: Guilderland's Isabella Bruno competed in the girls' Division 1 triple jump event at Cicero-North Syracuse on Friday afternoon. Bruno finished 12th in the state with a jump of 36 feet, six inches. That jump was a new personal record for Bruno.

Battling to the finish: Guilderland's Noah Tindale, center, tries to catch two competitors in his heat in the 800-meter championship. Tindale finished seventh overall, fifth in Division 1 in the state with a time of 1:54.80.

Hand off: Guilderland's Pat Ghyll, left, passes the baton to teammate Sean Taylor in the second leg of the 4-by-400-meter relay class final on Friday at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. The Guilderland relay team finished sixth in their group with a time of 3:27.27 and finished 13th overall.

Giving it a good toss: Berne-Knox-Westerlo's Shayla Lyons competed in the Division 2 state discus competition on Friday evening. Lyons finished fifth in the class final with a toss of 111 feet, 6 inches. Lyons finished in fourth in the state with a toss of 118 feet, nine inches.

Breaking away: Guilderland's Noah Carey competed in the boys 3200-meter championship on Friday evening where he lapped a competitor in his heat, which Carey won with a time of 9:11.62. Carey finished fifth overall, fourth in Division 1 in the state. Carey also competed in the boys' 1600-meter championship on Saturday where he finished fourth overall, third in Division 1 in the state.
