Photos: Guilderland Girls Win First Sectional Title, Send 11 To State Quals

On Wednesday, May 24, the Guilderland track competed in the Section 2, Class 1 sectionals at Colonie High School. It came down to the last event for the Dutch to claim their first ever Sectional title and the Dutch did just that, taking the title with 183 points. The Boys team finished eighth with 19 points. Guilderland will send 11 to Thurs and Fri State Qualifiers at Shen.

Rain couldn’t stop her: Guilderland’s Parker Steele clears the last hurdle in the 100-meter hurdles. Steele won the event with a time of 15.11 seconds and third in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 1:05.20.

In the pack: Guilderland’s Addison Vellekoop (4) and Rebecca Klieber (14) compete in a small pack on the outside of the track in the 1500-meter run. Vellekoop finished in third with a time of 4:40.56 and Klieber in 15th with a time of 5:18.10. Vellekoop came back to win the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.85.
