Ten Guilderland wrestlers along with one Berne-Knox-Westerlo wrestler who competed on Saturday in Glens Falls will be taking the next step toward the state competition on Feb. 28 to 29 at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association state tournament in Albany.

BKW’s Tyler Goodemote wrestled his way to the finals and fell to the number-one wrestler in the state, Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Ethan Cooper; here Goodemote prepares to pin Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk’s Ricky Hernandez in 1:04. Goodemote received an at-large bid to wrestle next week at the New York State tournament in Albany.

Is there a way out: Guilderland’s Britt Francis battles Queensbury’s Brayden Shattuck in the first round of 99-pound bout for Division 1. Francis lost to Shattuck by pin in 40 seconds.

Also placing in the top five for Guilderland were Sean Collins, fourth in the 170-pound weight class, and Marcus Berroa, fifth in the 132-pound weight class.
