Photos: Dutch Sail Fast In Sectionals, Girls Hold Onto A Slim Lead

On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Guilderland indoor team battled other division 1 teams in the Section 2, division 1 sectional championships held at Hudson Valley Community College. Guilderland girls, with 129 points, have a 14 point lead over Saratoga as they wait for the throwers to go, on Feb. 3, at Shenendehowa, boys are seventh with 29 points.

Down the stretch they come: Guilderland’s Kendall Barnhart comes racing down the track as she battles Colonie’s Lilly Palmer in the final leg as they come toward the finish line in the 4-by-200-meter relay. Barnhart made up a ton of ground to bring home the title for the Dutch with a time of 1:51.33.

Sailing over: Guilderland’s Ashon Oliver clears the last hurdle in his semifinal heat by finishing second with a time of 8.89 seconds then went on to the finals where he finished fifth overall with a time of 8.79 seconds.

Flying quickly over the hurdles as Guilderland’s Parker Steele in the finals of the 55-meter hurdles on Saturday evening. Steele won with a time of 8.61 seconds and finished second in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 8 inches.
