Photos: Dutch Duo Battle Against NYS Best

On Friday, Jan. 26, Guilderland girls’ wrestlers Nadia Hawrylchak and Aniella Kennedy competed against New York State’s best in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Girls Wrestling Invitational being held at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse.

Bent like a pretzel: Guilderland’s Nadia Hawrylchak gets her right arm brought back near her neck as Great Neck South’s Crisia Bonilla has a hold of it as Bonilla attempts to pin Harylchak in their first round 132-pound match. Hawrylchak lost 9-0.

Last minute moves: Guilderland’s Aniella Kennedy lays on top of East Rochester’s Talulah Williams Johnson as she tries to bring Johnson’s right arm back in an attempt to put her shoulders on the mat in their first round 138-pound match. Kennedy fell 5-2.

Attached at the hip: Guilderland’s Nadia Hawrylchak holds onto East Islip’s Makenna Corcoran as she attempts to roll her over her hip as Corcoran holds onto Hawrylchak’s midsection in the first round of their 132-pound wrestleback. Hawrylchak fell 4-2.

All wrapped up: Guilderland’s Aniella Kennedy has her arms around the head and midsection of Saugerties’ Meredith Mills as she puts her weight on her as the ref brings his arm down to indicate a pin. Kennedy won by pin in 37 seconds in the first round of the 138-pound wrestleback.
