The councilman who championed saving a mammoth historic barn was near tears as he told the town board there was no one interested in paying to have it moved.

The money, obtained by the Open Space Institute, will be spent on “exhibitry and other interpretive projects to help people understand" the park's geology and history.

Residents here worked to preserve their history and their natural surroundings this year, while also preparing for future expansion and addressing current needs.

NEW SCOTLAND  — The town is soliciting résumés for openings on the planning and the zoning boards; due to term-limits enacted in 2011, board members can serve only two five-year terms.

Albany County is looking for answers from the Tennessee Gas Pipeline and its parent company, Kinder Morgan. Both the county legislature and New Scotland Town Board  have passed resolutions calling for information sessions.

NEW SCOTLAND — A decision about a solar vendor for municipal energy is expected in the next few weeks, and the proposed town water-well law is still on tap, according to town board members.
